Hi, I'm Susan.

Ever since I was a little girl, I had two passions : journalism and real estate.   But my love for the written word won out and I started my career at the Province Newspaper before moving onto TV news and ending up at the CBC.

However, after many years of helping friends find their dream homes or doling out suggestions for renovating vs moving , I decided it was time to pursue my unrequited love and finally make a career out of my hobby. I haven’t regretted that decision for one second.

I work hard for my clients. Enthusiasm, energy, experience and ethics are what I bring to assisting my clients in persuit of their real estate goals.

M y husband and I recently bought waterfront property in Sandy Hook and are in the process of building our dream home. In what spare time we have, you can find us hiking in the beautiful Hidden Grove with our dog Andy or strolling along Davis Bay waterfront enjoying the splendour of the natural beauty of the Sunshine Coast.

I love, love, love the buying process. It is one of the reasons I became a realtor. I love viewing a property and seeing it’s possibilities to make it the perfect home for my clients. My clients have told me that they appreciate my ability to see beyond what is “there” to “what could be.”

The first thing in the buying process is to check with a mortgage broker to make sure what financing you qualify for if you are going to need a mortgage (lucky you if you don’t). The new banking regulations the Federal gov’t instituted in January 2018 (the B-20) tightened up the qualifications for financing and some people have discovered that they don’t actually qualify for what they hoped. Banks will guarantee their rate at which you qualified  for 3-4 months so you have time to shop around for your perfect place. This, of course, allows you to narrow down what product you will be searching for. Typically, detached houses cost more than townhouses, townhouses cost more than condos etc.

Once you know what you can spend, then the fun part begins! Looking for your new home. Some realtors have a limit on how many homes they will show to a client. I don’t. Having bought and sold many homes of my own, I know that if it doesn’t feel right, then it isn’t and that can’t always be accomplished in a limited number of viewings.

I will work hard to show you the right places that match your criteria and won’t waste our time with ones that don’t. I am happy to attend Open Houses to scope out the property before I show it to you and I will always accompany you to private viewings as well.

Once we find you the exact right place, then I will be with you every step of the way from laying out the costs of buying (the buyer doesn’t pay the realtor’s commission the seller does) ,writing up the offer/counter offers, to all the details of  finally moving in. I want to make the entire process as enjoyable and stress free for you as I can.

Marketing your property.

I advertise in all Sunshine Coast Real Estate magazines as well as in the North Shore News to try to capture the interest of off-coast buyers also.

I list on several platforms beside MLS  including REW.ca , Realtylink.org,  my own website, my Facebook page, Twitter , Instagram and LinkedIn.

I do a mailout to targeted neighbourhoods  when a property is listed  so people in the area are aware and can let possible interested parties know about the new house for  sale in their neighbourhood.  I will also door knock and invite the neighbours to the Open Houses to help get the word out.

If the seller approves,  I will hold Open Houses every weekend, and will be available for all private showings.
